The object of earning Badges isn't to just hurry through a list of activities, it's something you have learned to be proficient in, as a Good Scout always is..these activities will help you as you go on .. you should DO THE VERY BEST you can at each activity.
PENPALS
The purpose is to correspond with a penpal and learn to write interesting letters
1. Practice writing letters to a real penpal or an imaginary one . Tell them about an interesting trip you have taken, send a thank you note for gift you have received, write to An older relative, Grandmother, Aunt ..or a young cousin. Invite them to a play at your school, or a birthday party.
Write at least two letters
2.Share the letters with your Troop Leader, Other Troop members, Your Mother.. Ask for ideas , correction to spelling and punctuation. Read them out loud
3. Now..write a letter to a real PENPAL, illustrate it with a drawing, photo, magazine cutout. Tell your penpal about your home, ask about hers. Talk about your school or church, ask about hobbies, pets.
4.Practice Addressing an envelope with your penpal's address, and practice wrapping a package and addressing it correctly to be mailed.
5. Mail at least two letters to your Penpal or PenPal's and mail one package( or at least prepare one for mailing)
6. Discuss your penpal experiences with your troop and leader
You can ask Scouts in Other troops to be your penpal. or ask your parents if you have a relative far away that you can correspond with...try to pick someone that will write back to you if possible, if not. it can be to an imaginary person. just have fun!
To earn your Badge for PENPALS you must complete ALL of the above exercises
